Racial Nondiscrimination Policy

Adopted by the Board of Directors in satisfaction of Article II, Section 2.3 of the Bylaws of Al-Razi School and the requirements of IRS Revenue Procedure 75-50 (as updated by Revenue Procedure 2019-22).

Notice of Nondiscriminatory Policy as to Students

Al Razi School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

Statement of Policy

It is the policy of Al-Razi School to admit students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school, and not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, or athletic and other school-administered programs.

Scope

This Policy applies to all aspects of the school’s operations, including:

  • Admissions and enrollment of students.
  • Access to and participation in academic programs, religious instruction, extracurricular activities, athletic programs, and any other school-administered programs.
  • Award of scholarships, tuition assistance, financial aid, and loans.
  • Use of school facilities.
  • All other rights, privileges, and benefits generally made available to students of the school.

Nothing in this Policy limits the school’s right, consistent with applicable law, to make admissions and program decisions in furtherance of its religious mission as an Islamic educational institution, provided that such decisions are made without regard to race, color, or national or ethnic origin.

Publication and Notice

In accordance with IRS Revenue Procedure 75-50, the official notice (above) is continuously displayed on the homepage of alrazischool.org and on the school’s admissions and application pages. It also appears in all brochures, catalogs, application forms, and other materials used by the school for the solicitation of students and contributions.

Recordkeeping

The school maintains, for a minimum of three years following the close of the taxable year:

  • Records of the racial composition of the student body, faculty, and administrative staff for each academic year.
  • Records sufficient to document that scholarships and other financial assistance have been awarded on a racially nondiscriminatory basis.
  • Copies of all materials used to solicit contributions.
  • Copies of brochures, application forms, advertising, and other materials dealing with student admissions, programs, and scholarships, and documentation of the website notices required by this Policy.

Implementation and Compliance

The Board of Directors directs the Head of School to publish the notice, to ensure all admissions and operational decisions conform to this Policy, to train faculty and staff on its requirements, to investigate and respond to any complaint of racial discrimination, and to report annually to the Board on compliance.

Nothing in this Policy limits the school’s separate obligations under applicable federal, state, and local civil rights laws, including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, where applicable.
