Volunteer at Al-Razi
Pursuing Excellence, together. Our launch year depends on the people who give their time.
Why volunteer here
Volunteering at Al-Razi is more than helping out — it's Khidmah (service to community) lived in practice. You'll work directly with children, alongside our teachers, in a school built around the values of Taqwa, Ilm, Akhlaq, Ihsan, Tanawwoʿ, and Khidmah itself.
All volunteer roles require a background check before working with students.
Volunteer Roles
Three roles where we need help most for the inaugural 2026–2027 school year.
Library Volunteer
Flexible · 2+ hours per week
Help us build a school library worthy of a school named after a polymath. Catalog books, run age-appropriate read-alouds, and shape what reading culture looks like at Al-Razi.
What you'll do
- Catalog new acquisitions and maintain the existing collection
- Run read-alouds for PreK, K, 1st, and 2nd grade visits
- Manage check-out, returns, and gentle reminders for overdue books
- Curate themed displays around Islamic months, seasons, and classroom topics
- Recommend acquisitions to school administration
You'll be a great fit if
- Love children's books and Islamic children's literature
- Organized, gentle, patient with young readers
- Library, bookstore, or classroom experience helpful but not required
Physical Education Volunteer
1–2 sessions per week · ~45 minutes each
Lead the school's PE periods alongside the homeroom teacher. Plan and run movement-based games, foundational athletic skills, and Akhlaq-on-the-field lessons for PreK–2nd.
What you'll do
- Plan weekly PE sessions tailored to each grade
- Lead warm-ups, gross-motor activities, group games, cool-downs
- Teach foundational athletic skills (running, jumping, throwing, catching, balance)
- Reinforce sportsmanship — fair play, respecting teammates, gracious losing
- Adapt activities for different ability levels and ensure everyone participates
You'll be a great fit if
- Coaching, youth-sports, or PE-teaching background
- Energetic and patient — can keep 5–7-year-olds focused
- Comfortable with school-level modesty norms
Assistant Teacher (per class)
Flexible · half-day or full school days
The second pair of hands and eyes in a busy classroom. Support the lead teacher with small-group instruction, classroom management, and daily routines. Available per grade — PreK, K, 1st, and 2nd.
What you'll do
- Support the lead teacher during whole-class lessons
- Run small-group instruction under the lead teacher's plan
- Help individual students who need extra support during independent work
- Support transitions, lunch, recess, and dismissal routines
- Walk students to wudu and lead/support in-class daily prayers
You'll be a great fit if
- Warm, patient, good at reading the room
- Want to learn how a great elementary classroom runs
- Considering a future teaching career, or returning to the workforce
- Comfortable participating in daily prayer and Islamic etiquette
